The Mirage app

Mirage is developed by heydaytime. It supports compatible UVC capture-card input on iPad, the built-in camera, system Screen Share, watching local Mirage streams, and optional NDI® and browser outputs. Camera mode can also record locally.

The app has no Mirage accounts, advertising, analytics SDKs, or developer-operated cloud relay. We do not receive your live media or saved recordings through ordinary use of these app features.

Video and audio you choose to share

When you start a broadcast, Mirage sends video and available audio over your local network to receiving devices or software. Mirage-to-Mirage streams use an encrypted connection paired with a six-digit code. Device or source names and network addresses are used for local discovery and connection.

Camera mode shares its processed video and, when permitted and unmuted, microphone audio. Screen Share can include the contents of other apps and available app audio. Its Mirage and NDI outputs carry that app audio; its Browser output is video-only and does not capture microphone audio. Protected content may be excluded by the operating system or source app.

NDI and Browser outputs do not use Mirage’s six-digit pairing code. Enable them only on a network you trust. Receiving devices or software may record, forward, or otherwise process the media you send; their handling of it is outside Mirage’s control. Stop each output from its controls when you no longer want to share. Screen Share is started and stopped through the system broadcast controls.

Permissions

• Camera: used for the built-in camera and compatible external UVC capture devices exposed by iPadOS.
• Microphone: used for Camera audio and capture-card audio input. You can mute Camera audio or deny access in system Settings.
• Local Network: used to find Mirage streams and operate Mirage, NDI, and browser streaming on your network.
• Photos: add-only access is requested when saving a capture-card screenshot or when you opt to save Camera recordings to Photos. Mirage does not browse your photo library for these features.
• Screen Share: iOS or iPadOS requires you to start a system broadcast before screen content is shared.

You can change permissions in system Settings. Features that need a denied permission may be unavailable, while unrelated features remain usable.

What stays on your device

Mirage stores preferences such as your selected theme, device name, pairing defaults, controller mappings, monitoring options, and camera/output settings locally. The app and its Screen Share extension share settings and session status through an Apple App Group on the same device.

Camera recordings are saved as .mov files in Mirage’s Documents folder, accessible through Files. You may share them yourself and optionally save another copy to Photos. Capture-card screenshots are saved to Photos when requested. Files may be included in device backups or synced by Apple services according to your device settings.

Use Reset All Settings to reset Mirage preferences; it does not delete saved recordings or Photos copies. Delete recordings in Files and saved Photos items in Photos. Removing Mirage removes its app container, subject to the operating system’s backup and offloading behavior; copies you exported or saved elsewhere remain until you delete them.

Third-party components

Mirage includes NDI and WebRTC for local streaming. Their presence does not mean your media is uploaded to a Mirage cloud service. The browser connection uses local signaling and does not configure an external STUN or TURN relay. This website and support

This website is hosted by Vercel and uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate website visits, such as pages visited, device/browser categories, and approximate location. This website analytics integration is separate from the iOS app and cannot see your in-app streams or recordings. Vercel also processes connection information needed to serve and secure the website. See Vercel’s Web Analytics privacy information and Vercel’s privacy policy.

If you email support, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to respond and investigate the issue, retaining it as needed for support and applicable obligations. Please avoid sending private recordings or other sensitive information unless needed. You can contact us to request deletion of support correspondence, subject to applicable retention requirements.

External links, including the App Store and NDI website, are operated by their respective providers and have their own privacy practices.
